Students age 18 and older who have assumed all of their legal educational rights find themselves thrust into the adult world as they seek to finish their secondary educations and pursue post-secondary life. Whether their pursuits are oriented on their educations, their careers, or both, sometimes self-advocacy isn’t enough to get the supports and services they need to access all of their opportunities.
Our services to such individuals can include:
- Lay (non-attorney) advocate representation in correspondence and meetings
- Case consultation services
- Disability-specific educational research of the peer-reviewed literature
- Letter-writing and document preparation services
- Research into the applicable regulations, procedural safeguards, and complaint procedures
- Assistance with regulatory complaints, if needed
- Referrals to qualified attorneys if it appears litigation may be warranted
- Supported Decision Making (SDM) and post-secondary planning
